In Fairwaves we're working hard to provide low‑cost, easy‑to‑use mobile communications to billions of people who need them. Our focus is on solutions utilizing the best of open-source and Software Defined Radio (SDR) worlds.
We're creators of the ClockTamer, the leading reference clock generator for the OpenBTS community.
We're authors of the first open-source WiMAX receiver, a WiMAX PHY level implementation written completely in software. Written for fun, this project is yet to show its potential.
Right now we're launching production of a GSM base station for the use in remote, rural and developing regions. UmTRX is our budget-friendly hardware to be used with OpenBTS or OpenBSC software to run profitable mobile networks at the <5$/month ARPU. It uses SDR, flat-IP and VoIP to drop both CAPEX and OPEX down. The latest and the best technology will allow people in developing regions to speak freely.
Our next goal will be to provide a complete easy‑to‑use mobile communictaion system for tiny and small operators.
And yes, we're strong open-source proponents. We believe this is an important part of our support for developing regions and innovation in generals.
